A few kids built a cool fort under the pedestrian bridge on Farragut Drive.
The city arrived with 5 trucks and a dozen workers to repair the damage.
Event Report: The Farragut Drive Halloween Festival
The Farragut Drive Halloween Festival took place, entirely unannounced, unauthorized, and apparently self-organized. Highlights included cars, costumes, and an impressive number of confused teenagers. There didn’t appear to be any scheduled activities unless the main event was blocking traffic.
Police were called to the scene, the traditional sign of a great party.
It’s worth noting that just a few years ago, these same participants were polite trick-or-treaters, dutifully escorted by parents. Now they have driver’s licenses, loud music, and no curfew.
Whether this was a one-time occurrence or the start of an annual tradition remains uncertain. For everyone’s sake, we hope it was the former.

Neighborhood News Summary
October was overflowing with community spirit. We saw park cleanups, movie nights, gardening workshops, the Mayor dropped by the Azalea meeting, the Azalea Wildlife Alliance held its usual Sunday service on Farragut Drive, and the neighborhood kids built, and promptly lost, a fort on the creek.
And Farragut Drive hosted the Halloween Festival courtesy of the local youth, whose enthusiasm far exceeded their organizational skills.
All in all, a quiet month in Azalea. Nothing else to report. Other than that, not much going on around here.
